Life Creators - why now?
Life Creators is a space to share with you everything that can elevate your life, making it better, more uniquely yours, and more valuable. Alongside ideal material items, you'll find personal and professional life tips and advice that I've found valuable in my life and believe are worth sharing with you. Take what you think might work in your case, ask questions, and challenge me (drop a comment on LinkedIn or Instagram) - but ensure you find your own way of creating your life. This is the whole purpose of this space.
Why now? Because now is the time, and this is my 2024 plan. I have been creating ideas in my head for a long time, analyzing a lot, and probably thinking too much. No more time should be wasted. 2024 is the year for action and making things happen. Less thinking, more doing, and creating change because "less is indeed more."
How to do it?
Life Creators should really take ownership of their lives and make things happen. Here's what I did this year: At the end of the year, I carefully thought about the next year and all the plans I have. I've found a huge amount of motivation and insights on how to make a 2024 plan and then execute it.
3x plan:
I prepared my 2024 plan, which includes my career goals, key events, time for my family and close ones, and time for myself.
Career goals should extend beyond companyâs and teamâs OKRs. It should be your individual vision of what you want to achieve professionally this year and a path towards it. In my case it includes my work, professional development areas, and my own business ideas, among the others Life Creators. I made a plan and set goals for each of them.
The family aspect encompasses more than just vacation plans, but also family dinners, dates, and friend trips. You should make a dedicated space for those too. Otherwise, you might not see some of your friends for another year as weekends become perpetually 'busy.' If you have such reflections after this year, just pick up the phone and call a friend asking to plan a trip with you; you wonât regret it!
Don't forget to allocate sufficient space for your personal needs, the 'myself' part of the plan. What do I mean by that? In here, I included things like a monthly âme dayâ to ensure I have time for all my mind and body needs, an annual solo trip, and health stuff like doctor's appointments, blood tests, vaccinations - don't ignore these; better safe than sorry.
Write it down:
Write down everything you want to accomplish. Get a calendar and assign tasks and dates, mark deadlines, mark holidays and trips. You might think it is crazy to have a 1-year plan. But is it really? At work, if something isnât in your calendar it doesnât happen. It works the same in life.
Opt for the traditional pen and paper. Writing by hand helps us remember better, learn faster, and engages our brain differently than typing.
Are you searching for a fancy leather planner? Consider Aspinal of London, offering a range of sizes, colors, and each with a unique, luxurious look. For more accessibility, I recommend Moleskine notebooks and calendars are widely available across countries and airports.
How did I pick mine? I look for a B5 size as it is the handiest. My inside must-haves are:
- A year plan included on two pages so that I can mark all key dates and see them clearly.
- Monthly one-pagers, where I put key events, milestones, deadlines - anything handy during the year.
- Daily pages - for planning daily goals and making notes - this is my operating system.
Decide for yourself:
This is your 2024 plan. Do it yourself, donât ask others for opinions. Just craft your perfect year and make it happen.
Create a routine, but leave space for spontaneity:
This is the most important part. To make it happen, you'll need a solid routine to ensure you work on your goals and check progress. I'll be sharing more over the next few weeks - stay tuned!
Donât overthink, start acting:
Don't spend another quarter getting ready, thinking about ideas and plans. Just do it. Otherwise, you'll wake up in December 2024 still thinking and wondering. If you have dreams and ideas - just try. There's nothing wrong with failing, but not trying is the worst option.
My ask
Dear Life Creator - whether you agree with me or not, whether you make plans or not, whether you summarize and reflect or you just simply go with the flow - ensure you do create your own 2024 year! Don't let others do it for you, don't let coincidence dictate your year. You should make it yourself; if you make it happen, you'll feel great pride in yourself. If you fail, learn from your mistakes and ensure in 2025 you don't repeat them.
2024 will be a great year!
