Visualization is a popular form of meditation and, personally, my preferred one. Iā€™m a big believer in the power of our brains and what we can achieve by leveraging its skills in our favor. Visualization is one of my approaches to work with my brain and keep consciously exploring its capabilities. It also aligns with my approach towards positive psychology and strengthening my confidence in new areas Iā€™m learning and exploring.

I really find it a pleasurable exercise that I do each morning because I like it, not because I feel like I should.

If you are interested in discovering visualization, check out these three ideas I consider interesting ways of exploring the power of visualization from various angles.

Experiment with Visualization Exercises

As you already know, if youā€™ve followed me for a while, Iā€™m a big fan of using the power of your brain and believe that visualization is one of the best methods of doing so.

Each morning, I experiment with visualization exercises. Each time it gets a bit deeper and deeper. But I do work hard on focusing on my dreams and goals, creating that positive energy, and making sure my mind knows it all.

I use the Insight Timer app for my morning visualizations. Iā€™ve tested various 10-15 minute visualizations and saved those that were the most appealing to me.

Now, I use them almost daily (unless I pick something from another source or experiment with my own way of doing it).

Make Your Own Vision Board

As a small girl, I loved stickers and everything you could buy in a stationery store. And I must admit this hasnā€™t changed at all! I could spend hours in a stationery store, and Iā€™m so jealous there were no such amazing stickers when I was a kidā€¦

Anyway, this was a bit of a side note/intro to explain why a vision board has become one of my favorite things while doing my annual plan.

Not only do I carefully select beautiful photos showing all my life plans and dreams, but also, most of all, I decorate all of this with great stickers.

Another side note: Yes, I did special shopping trips and visited my two favorite stores just for this. But I also shared some with my niece, who thankfully inherited my passion for stickers. So now, even if I donā€™t have my own, I know who has themā€”thousands of stickers.

I have done my vision board, and Iā€™m so proud of it. It makes me smile every time I look at it. Because I also spend a lot of time in my hometown, I made a second version there, in the room where I usually work.

Brainwash Yourself with Your Mind Movie

When reading one of Joe Dispenza's books, the concept of a mind movie fascinated me.

A mind movie is a visual tool used to create a vivid, cinematic representation of your life vision and goals. It typically combines images, affirmations, and music to depict your desired future, helping you to visualize and emotionally connect with your dreams. By repeatedly watching your mind movie, you reinforce positive beliefs and motivation, making your goals feel more attainable. This method leverages the power of visualization to enhance focus and drive, ultimately aiding in the manifestation of your aspirations. It's like creating a mental blueprint for the life you want to live. Joe Dispenza creates a whole process aimed at maximizing the positive effects of watching your mind movie. He suggests combining watching a kaleidoscope with your mind movie.

Kaleidoscope and Mind Movie - High-Level Process:

  1. Prepare your Mind Movie.
  2. Focus on your breath and heart for a few minutes.
  3. Watch the  kaleidoscope video for 8 minutes (you can find them on YouTube).
  4. Watch your mind movie for 8 minutes.
  5. Repeat those 2 cycles a few times.
  6. End with 7 minutes of kaleidoscope and listening to mind movie music.
  7. Watch the kaleidoscope and mind movie each day for a month, or at least try to watch your mind movie twice a dayā€”in the morning and before going to sleep.

I must admit I havenā€™t tried it yet! Iā€™m 100% sure I will do it; Iā€™m just gathering inspiration for it.

Travel Only with Your Thoughts

Iā€™ve been sitting on the train while writing this post, and this message hit me. Whenever I can, I choose a quiet zone on the train to be able to focus and, if I need to, catch up on some work.

But I used to travel only with my thoughts a lot in the past. Staring at the world passing by, observing nature waking up in spring, snowy fields in winter, or yellow rape fields in summer.

Why not anymore?

I find travel (plane or train) to be a great focus environment. With limited notifications hitting me and poor or no wifi, I can just focus on things and get much more done than during the same amount of time at home.

But I realized I miss traveling with just my thoughts. Staring out the window and observing the world that the train passes. This is a good reminder to think about some travel planningā€”why not divide my travel time into work focus and mind focus time?

Homework for Youā€¦

If you havenā€™t yet tried experimenting with any of the above, try.

Start with simple visualization exercises. I use the Insight Timer app to get short guided visualizations or I simply create my own focused on a specific aspect of my life while listening to my focus music.

If you are advanced in visualization, then I challenge you to make your own mind movie!
